My practice encourages and supports intentional listening, self appreciation, fresh air, community integration, writing, art, and movement. I have a strong interest in supporting our community to experience compassion satisfaction—the positive feelings derived from helping others—and avoiding compassion fatigue and burnout. My goal is to support you in maintaining your resilience and well-being, and to continue finding joy and fulfillment in your work and personal life.
Skowhegan Counseling is a telehealth service - we will video chat using a secure telemedicine platform.
My background includes working with diverse populations in rural Maine and military communities in Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
All commercial insurances will be verified before our first clinical encounter. I am credentialed with several insurance providers, including MaineCare, Medicare, Aetna commercial, Aetna Medicare Advantage plans, Anthem BCBS (based in Maine or out of state), Anthem Medicare Advantage plans, Community Health Options, Harvard Pilgrim, Harvard Pilgrim Medicare Advantage plans, Health Plans Inc., Humana, Humana Medicare Advantage plans, Martin's Point, Martin's Point Generations Advantage, Optum, UHC Student Resources, UMR, United Healthcare, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plans, VA CCN (VA Community Care Network through Optum), Wellcare Medicare Advantage Plans, and TRICARE.
I accept private payment through Payanywhere but you can also suggest another method.
I'll send you a doxy.me link five minutes before our session. It's secure and easy.
You can schedule an appointment by contacting me via email at skowhegancounseling@gmail.com. I will try to respond within 48 business hours.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Payment is due at the time of service. For clients using insurance, any applicable copays or deductibles are due at the time of the appointment. For private-pay clients, full payment is required at the end of each session. I use a billing agency called Cornerstone Behavioral Health--for all clients using insurance.
For clients using MaineCare, and many other insurances, the following documentation is required:
- Verification of MaineCare eligibility and up-to-date insurance information. We will call Kepro together so that you can discharge yourself from any preexisting service.
- Signed consent forms for treatment and any necessary releases of information.
- A comprehensive intake that includes personal information, medical history, and reason for seeking counseling.
- An initial assessment to understand your needs and develop a treatment plan.
- An authorized plan of care specifying the services to be provided: who will perform them, the number of hours per week, start date, and end date.
- A comprehensive assessment within 30 days that will be updated as needed but at least annually.
No.
A book that I happen to think is excellent is called 'Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges' by Patty Wipfler and Tosha Schore, M.A.
