Dr. Ester Franklin, LCPC, LADC, CCS, DHS, provides compassionate and evidence-based online mental health counseling for adults, professionals, and families throughout Maine. She draws on her doctorate in Human Services with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Management to help clients facing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationship and parenting challenges, and substance use concerns.
Her practice emphasizes intentional listening, self‑appreciation, community connection, fresh air, writing, art, and movement to build resilience and emotional well‑being while preventing compassion fatigue and supporting compassion satisfaction. Skowhegan Counseling is a secure telehealth counseling service, providing private video sessions you can access from home—or anywhere you have reliable internet access in Maine. Dr. Franklin’s background includes work with diverse populations in rural Maine and military communities in Japan, South Korea, and Germany, and she also offers clinical supervision for counselors pursuing licensure. Payment is due at the time of service. For clients using insurance, any applicable copays or deductibles are due at the time of the appointment. For private-pay clients, full payment is required at the end of each session. I use a billing agency called Cornerstone Behavioral Health--for all clients using insurance.
For clients using MaineCare, and many other insurances, the following documentation is required:
- Verification of MaineCare eligibility and up-to-date insurance information. We will call Kepro together so that you can discharge yourself from any preexisting service.
- Signed consent forms for treatment and any necessary releases of information.
- A comprehensive intake that includes personal information, medical history, and reason for seeking counseling.
- An initial assessment to understand your needs and develop a treatment plan.
- An authorized plan of care specifying the services to be provided: who will perform them, the number of hours per week, start date, and end date.
- A comprehensive assessment within 30 days that will be updated as needed but at least annually.
